Frequently Asked Questions

Sizing details

We do not perform any alteration ourselves but use the services of a quality local artisan jeweller who can do this type of work. The flat fee is 40 euros equivalent and it will take 5 working days to have the alteration done. The resizing can be requested before or after purchase at the customer's convenience

Care instructions

For most jewellery the use of a simple warm water with gentle soap and toothbrush should be sufficient. If you need deeper cleaning, it is best to take your item to a professional jeweller who will have the necessary equipment.
For organic materials such as coral, pearl, ivory,...etc, or porous gemstones such as opals, turquoise, lapis lazuli,...etc the use of any chemical could be damaging. It is preferable to go to a jeweller to have your item cleaned.

Custom and personalised orders

We do not offer personalised or custom items. We offer, at cost, re-sizing for the rings. Please check with us feasibility as sometimes it is not possible to change the size. In case of return, the cost of re-sizing will be deducted from the refund. thank you

Do you have a point of sale, a shop ?

We no longer have our physical shop, however we do participate in designated exhibitions in the area. We regularly attend the monthly Antique fair on cours Mirabeau in Aix en Provence as well as the International fair of Isle sur la Sorgue amongst others.
In between exhibitions and for obvious security reasons the jewellery is kept in a safe in our local bank

How to return a piece of jewellery ?

Although we accept returns this can be a lengthy process, not to our fault. We recommend you ask all questions and photos you need before placing an order. Due to the nature and value of the items, any return will have to be registered mail, tracked with insurance, at the buyer's expense. Please ensure you mark the shipping as "RETURNED" and ask us for the exact wording to write in the return's documents. The export forms have to match down to the word return ones in order to avoid any import fees as the item comes back to us. Failure to do so would have the consequence of deducting any of these from our refund to you. Unless the returned item was misdescribed the refund will cover the price of the item only. Thank you

How to interpret French gold and platinum hallmarks ?

A very quick summary :
The French standard being 18K - 750/1000 - most of the French jewels will have this stamp. It has been in use since 1838 and it is the profile of an eagle's head. The owl is also for 18K but it means the item has an unknown maker.
For new items the eagle's head can be in a losange ( 18K ) or in a rectangle ( 22K). For new 24K items it will be the seahorse.
For 14K gold quality - 585/1000 - it will be the scallop
For 9K gold quality - 375/1000 - it will be the clover or the letters "ET" in a rectangle

For Platinum, it will be the dog's head. This hallmark was introduced in 1912.

A piece of jewellery can always be re-stamped except if it is likely that the marking process could damage the item

How does the insurance work ?

Although Etsy does not hold sellers responsible for delay or loss, all our items are shipped insured. In the very unlikely event of a missing parcel, here are the steps :
1- A case is open with our shipper about 10 days after expected delivery date
2- During the first 30 days, it is assumed the parcel will reappear following misdirection, lack of scan, delay in processing,..etc
3- The following 45 days will be dedicated to proper investigation carried out by our shipper, during which the parcel can still be found
4- The parcel is declared lost and the compensation process begins
As this is a lengthy and frustrating process, at the end of step 3 we will offer you an initial minimum of 50% refund until full compensation is granted

How to treat vintage and antique jewellery ?

Vintage and antique jewellery is more fragile than modern jewellery. Most of our items are between 50 and 120 years old and have had already quite a life. Some settings and designs are more fragile than others and have to be worn with care. Each item we offer has been carefully looked out for weaknesses and/or defects. Any noticeable imperfection has been addressed so you get a quality piece of jewellery and in that respect we cannot be held responsible for breakage once the piece of jewellery has been worn. We can however in such an unlikely event provide you with guidance and estimates for repairs.
